The problem that has arose in Northern Ireland is through the healthcare sector. Over the last 5 years, the NHS and any UK Healthcare has been falling apart. Within this class, we will be looking at how us as designers, can help with rebuilding the structure of healthcare, bringing it back to the way it was.
This is a graph showcasing the decline of patient satisfaction over the past 3 years and counting. This showcased how factors and sections in healthcare in the UK and Northern Ireland has decreased through staff shortages, through budget increases, and one that is applicable to myself, time management with getting results and good control of traffic through systems.
It is very interesting to see the decrease in healthcare in the UK, being affected by COVID, as well as the factors mentioned above impacts this drastically.
We watched a video on the HSC and learnt a lot in regards to their approach to the decline in healthcare in the UK
HSCNI are using automated technology to improve the healthcare sector in Northern Ireland. Informing decisions using data. Creating better outcomes. Storing information in one place, so that better decisions can be made. Doing this breaks silos for healthcare workers and puts everyone on the same system, meaning a more seamless workflow.
Understanding how to properly research, David has provided us with new methods of research that will help manage time and maintain progression throughout
As designers we may not always get a brief, but we have to come up with our own brief. The brief can come after the discovery phase, and part of the define phase is deciding what the brief will be. This happens by using the themes and insights that we found from the research and discovery phase. For our project it is good to pick an area that we have family members or friends that are having issues, so that we can get more specific insight on the pain points, wants and needs of that specific area. Having too vast of an area to cover will lead to us getting overwhelmed and lost.
Initially, looking at the brief is the main starting point. We are learning about using the Double Diamond format to learn it.

With my research, using this format will help me understand the brief and be on a good path to finding an idea that represents my research reflections. I will be using interviews, google and articles, youtube videos and much more to understand and research healthcare.
We also learnt about the Sanford Design Thinking Process Diagram. This is a well detailed diagram that teaches us about how to research and apply it to our designs.
