In todays class, we are learning about research techniques, and the importance of carrying out research before we design a product. Research is important as we need to find out whether the product we are designing is needed, and whether there is a target audience for it.

Discovery.

There is already stuff we know at the beginning, then it follows through with what wee know and what we don’t know, this is where we gather the facts. Then it goes to What we don’t know and we don’t know.

Go find out about this problem just how big it is and what the opportunities might be.

We learnt about Shoshin. Shoshin is a Japanese word that means

Beginner's Mind

It's a Zen Buddhist concept that encourages being open to new ideas and information, even when you're already an expert.

What does Shoshin mean? - Having an open and empty mind, Being eager to learn, Being willing to consider all information, Letting go of preconceptions, and Approaching life with wonder.

Overall, it means ‘Open Minded’.

Desk research should always be the starting point of a research process, simply to avoid reinventing the wheel and to stand on the shoulders of giants when you start your primary research with others.
